With a busy practice based between Rickmansworth and Chorleywood, I specialize in working with clients in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the outer London suburbs, who have the desire to invest in great design to create beautiful gardens to fit their lifestyle.
A once-loved garden may need an injection of vitality now that the family have flown the nest, or perhaps it is looking distressed after building work. There may be neglected areas which seem just too challenging.
I can inject new life, purpose and beauty into tired, unloved or awkward spaces, creating gardens which invite exploration and provide a sanctuary for relaxing, entertaining, playing with family or just pottering.

THE DESIGN PROCESS

Initially
By meeting you on site, asking lots of questions and listening to you, my primary goal is to develop a clear understanding of what you hope to achieve.

Design
I translate our discussions into a cohesive, beautiful, practical new layout for your garden, first in concept, then worked up in fine detail.

Build
The agreed design is costed by trusted landscapers of your choice (recommended by me or known by you), then turned into an exciting reality.

Aftercare
To keep your garden in tiptop condition, I provide ongoing maintenance advice whenever requested. I am delighted to revisit as gardens develop.

This included a new layout, replacing a lawn, specifying new plants, shrubs and trees, dealing with procurement, and project managing the heavy project work, which was done by an external company. ‘Having spent 12 months completely refurbishing our house the last remaining job was the rear garden. Elaine was a mine of information & offered excellent advice on all aspects of our garden from building works, trees, planting & finishes. After engaging Elaine she carried out a full & thorough site survey.
Drawings promptly arrived & we had a follow up meeting to carry out some very minor tweaking. The drawings were first class, showed all details & it was very easy to see what the finished garden would look like.
I must say that we were very impressed with the whole process & Elaine was very easy to work with & quickly grasped what we really wanted to achieve & put the whole scheme very clearly onto paper.
Elaine recommended an excellent landscaping company who we went on to use & they carried out a first class job throughout that we were very pleased with.

'We wanted to redesign a section of our garden to provide a low maintenance colourful border. Elaine undertook a comprehensive survey and produced a design matching our requirements which was refined after further discussions. She then made a planting plan for the trees, bushes, and flowers which would fit well within the new border. Landscapers suggested by Elaine put in a new fence, made new garden steps and cultivated the border ready to receive the new plants. Throughout the project Elaine was very thorough and made sure that everything went smoothly to our satisfaction. All costs were clearly identified and discussed in advance. 'Having spent many years unhappy with our garden due to the lack of patio where the sun reaches and a small garden wall that made the garden feel smaller, we contacted Elaine to come to our rescue. Elaine spoke to us about our requirements, our likes and dislikes and what we expected from the design and then came up with a proposed design. After only a few tweaks we agreed the design and Elaine recommended companies to quote for the construction. The garden is now complete and despite it being Winter we are thrilled with it and looking forward to seeing the new plants blossom in the Spring.'
